As a ceramic artist and UCF professor, he noticed that students and colleagues who maintained varied, playful movements aged better than those who became sedentary or stuck to rigid exercise routines. When he discovered neuroplasticity research showing that novel movements create new brain connections, he realized his lifelong practice of juggling, balance challenges, and playful activities was the key to his own vitality. Meet Stephen Jepson

The visionary behind Never Leave The Playground, Stephen is an inventor, artist, educator and lifelong advocate for playful movement. His mission: to help people of all ages move better, think sharper and live more joyfully.

A Lifetime of Play & Creativity

Stephen Jepson has spent over six decades exploring the intersection of play, art and human performance. After earning degrees in ceramics and launching the ceramics program at the University of Central Florida, he built a successful career as a potter with works in the Smithsonian Museum and collections worldwide. Along the way he designed kayaks and other inventions, founded the World Pottery Institute, and mentored thousands of students.

Now in his eighties, Stephen continues to challenge himself and others with a simple philosophy: movement is medicine and play makes it fun. His innovative training methods use balance beams, beanbags, marbles and juggling pins to engage both sides of the body and brain. The results? Better balance, dexterity, reaction time and cognitive health for people of all ages.

Stephen travels the world to speak on active aging and shares his playful movement practice through videos, workshops and keynote talks. Whether you’re a beginner or an athlete, his step‑by‑step approach will inspire you to never stop playing.
